2 near crashes and 1 crash in 4 days

2014-04-13%2011-15-06.logHi don't know what the problem is but my quad has been fine until recently when I went over the bmx track to film my son,The quad started to be unresponsive and drift luckily I was low and it ended up in a small tree no damage done. The second time I was at a old airfield and it done the same and crashed breaking 2 arms,3 props and ripping cables out of motor. The third time which was Saturday was on a beach and it went unresponsive and started to drift towards a car park full of cars.I switched to RTL which brought it back to me but as it was coming down it was swinging front to back on a arc of about 3m,My friend caught it before it hit the floor.

I now have no confidents in my quad at all

My spec; 450 clone apm 2.5 with 2212 1000kv motors,2200mah battery.

Here is my log file from saturday

  • I have plugged in usb and all fine .the quad has been fine for last few months just the last few times its done it.I have had quad for at least 6 months
  • Ok thanks.I'm tempted to buy a naza lite with gps
    • google "naza fly-aways"... sure, not all will be hardware/software fault related, because for sure there are plenty of people who don't do everything correctly before take off... but some are definitely bugs... ymmv

      • Seem to have sorted out crash glitch i turned of failsafe on battery and it hasn't done it since.

But my new problem is the quad pulsing motors in alt hold or loiter. It jumps up and down about 2 inches.

Here is a log file of most recent flight

  • I used to have problems with one of my boards (2.5 APM). Unreliable, glitches and power issues. I eventually replaced it with a new one, I have never had an issue ever since.

Doesn't solve your problem but something to think about

  • Sounds like your gps or compass might be pointing in the wrong direction or may be getting electro magnetic inteference. Might be worth a shot trying to "move" them away from EMI stuff like motors and batteries.

    • done a compassmot on sunday here are results only 5% on mag

      • Did you try connecting your APM via usb and verify that rotating the copter and the direction shown on MP are correct ?

      • You should read in wiki how to make the compassmot, and the are no current measures while doing it (0). But I don´t know if this solves your issue. Voltage measuring maybe wrong too, because it goes below your Batt_Failsave of 10.5 V and your failsafe triggers at minute 4. I think this is your issue ...

        • I done compassmot there is a image of it on my last reply. If it hit failsafe on battery it should have RTL which it didn't it started to drift off with no response from sticks?
