Were working on building a UAV with first person video and the ability to take still shots from a 8mp camera.

Before we get into the camera setup I have a few questions regarding the UAV portion.

We are using a predator B as the aircraft with FMA co-pilot. We need to find out the cheapest route to getting this thing autonomous. Has anyone used the AP4? Ive read if it is used in conjunction with the co-pilot that it is a cheap and stable system capable of returning to base.

if your interested you could put together an ap based on a basicx controler and a etrex 32channel 5hz gps module for under $200 ive been testing it for a couple,e of weeks now and although ive had trouble with my rc gear the ap has done great. you can check out my blog on it here.
definitely interested. I'm not familiar with basicX. What all would we need?
Would a eTrex cobined with the AP4 and FPV camera/Tx be to much weight for the 63" Predator? Were also thinking about adding ailerons from balsa to the bird for stability. The Co-pilot is more effective on aileron wings. Not sure exactly how to mix the ailerons with the V-tail though.
See the comments on this thread about a used AP4 for sale.
Thats funny. I'm the one who is about to buy that. Is that a good unit to use?
