Let me see if I understand. You wonder if a 2S charge and balance wire is the correct thing to connect an 11.1v 3S battery to a receiver which expects about 5v on its power pin.

?

A: Only if your goal is to let the smoke out of your receiver.

Grant, plug your 12.6v battery into an ESC or speed controller with ESC then to receiver (Throttle), DO NOT plug directly to receiver or it will burn up...it needs 4.8 to 6.0 vdc.

Grant, the usual method of powering a receiver from a LiPo is to use a BEC (battery eliminator circuit). Most lower voltage ESC's (electronic speed control's) like you would use with a 3s LiPo have a BEC built in. When you plug the ESC into the throttle channel of the receiver you are automatically providing power to the receiver from the ESC's BEC.

Some ESC's do not have a BEC, so you need to wire in an external BEC. And some times you want an external BEC even if your ESC has one - usually because you are using a lot of servos or large servos and anticipate more current draw than the ESC's BEC can handle. Pulling a lot of current out of your ESC's BEC is a great way to overheat it.

OOOOO, I get it now. That's what the ESC is for. I was assuming that the ESC went from the receiver to the motor for some reason.

NO Grant, the ESC IS for the motor (electronic speed controller), but what the guys are saying is that most come with a BEC circuit (battery eliminator circuit) which powers the R/C receiver.
