Hi all
Still having problems with my APM2. Will not boot with SD card in place (even when you do a manual reset after power applied). I just updated the firmware to 2.5.4. Please look at video:
It is either the SD card itself or the card slot. When it does boot with the card pulled back 1 mm and I go to retrieve the logs it indicates no SD card found.
The board works great without the SD card and I have now logged 10 flights but am unable to review any logs.
Any ideas on what I can try?
Is my card DOA?
Just purchased from our Canadian distributor.

Permalink Reply by Jay on April 23, 2012 at 3:52pm Same problem here just received my APM2 today and I am unable to initialize with the sdcard in the card slot. Everything works beautifully with no sdcard plugged in. 2.5.4 firmware

Basically plug the sdcard in after initialized, wait for it to erase it takes a long time around 5-10 minutes.
Permalink Reply by Michael on April 23, 2012 at 10:06pm I already did that 5 times. How exactly did you do it? I connect without dataflash card to Mission Planner, insert the card and go to the Terminal. It then starts to erase. After about 10 minutes, I got my LEDs flashing on again and can arm the motor. BUT after plugging it off, the board is locked again...

Permalink Reply by Emile L. on April 24, 2012 at 6:18am Thanks Jay I think it worked.
I plugged the SD card in and powered up. No red activity light, blue GPS lights, power light was on and all ESCs were beeping through the whole process. It took about 8 min then it booted up. Now I just have the Boot loader problem and need to hit the reset to get it to boot, but it does with the SD card in place, The SD card format must have gone bad and the unit would seem to hang up but it was actual formatting the card.

Permalink Reply by Emile L. on April 24, 2012 at 1:28pm I didn't have much time to try it last night. The one thing I noticed that when formatting the card (that looked like it failed to boot) the ESC's were beeping. Now when it fails to boot (boot loader issue) with the power applied and before I push the reset the ESCs do not make any noise. One of the things I want to try tonight to see if moving the card in the holder effects the boot. Before all I needed to do was move the card 1 mm and it would boot but would not register a SD card.

You may have a defective dataflash card -- I can't replicate this issue on any board I've tried. Have you contacted customer support? (help@3drobotics.com)
Permalink Reply by Emile L. on April 29, 2012 at 7:15am Well it did it again! Come to go flying and it will not boot. Had to pull the SD card so i could fly.
When I got back to my hangar I put it back in and made some observations. The esc for 1 and 2 motors were beeping during the failed boot, even after the reset. I noticed this earlier in my post so I let it sit. After about 6 min it started up. Now it works again and no beeping when it waits for the reset button.
I think the use of the reset button to get it to boot is leading to a corruption of the sd card. Once the sd card is corrupt it fails to boot but is actually reformatting the card.
