Hey guys,

With a lot of help from Chris I was able to get Ardupilot 2.5.4 loaded onto my board today.

Once loaded, I came accross my next 2 issues.

Issue 1:

The flight modes.  I wanted to test if changing the all the  flight mode descriptions in the header file to "manual" that it would indeed give me manual control over over the plane in each mode. However, with all three modes set to manual, I was only able to control the plane in manual position 1. I had no control over the plane in positions 2 and 3.

Issue 2:

Random flight changes. Regardless of what flight modes are set to positions 2 and 3 (position 1 was kept as manual) there is random flight mode changes when the transmitter is set to position 2 (red mux light on and green mode light on).

I hooked the FTDI cable up and watched the incoming data on hyperterminal, take a look at what was happening on the attached file.

Hmm. We may have busted that feature (which I believe you are the first person to ever use!) in the latest rev of the code. We could never figure out why anyone would want to do that, so we'll probably delete in in the next rev. It's safer to let home be determined automatically.
...So would a new home posiiton be set everytime the system loses and re-gains lock?
No, only at startup and only when it's on the ground. Even if you reset the processor in the air, it won't overwrite the home position.
I actually don't have any use for it... I stumbled upon in because I changed one of my modes from FBW to RTL, and then I was testing it and watching the data through hyperlink. I noticed that when I switched it RTL, it immediatly witched to LOITER, which makes sense because when i turned it on to test it a home point was created.

So, i tried to move the home position in config tool to see if that would make the mode stay at RTL instead of switch to LOITER right away.

(I assume when RTL recognizes home position it switches to LOITER to cirlce home position?)
