Hi,

I got a wobbling crash from 1 meter height for my X4 copter yesterday. The uncontrolable wobbling happened  2 seconding after taking off and was caused by an unexpected changing from X4 to +4 in my APM 2.6.

The problem turned out to be a Mission Planner issue. I am running Mission Planner (1.2.99 build 1.1.5197.12871) on Windows 7 64 bit connecting my APM via 3DR radio telemetry.

The issue can be repeated in following way

---Connecting APM 2.6 of X4 frame type by telemetry.

---Clicking Wizard and close it immediately without doing anything at first step.

---Checking your frame type, it is now +4.

MP Wizard doesn't remind me anything about this change.

This may probably a bug in MP, please fix it.

Regards.

Yi

  • Thanks!!!!! This post helped me big time!!!

  • You are not supposed to do any configs in the air !

    • Hi, Gustav,

Thanks for reply. I did't config in air. I adjusted some paramaters in evening before the crash and wrongly clicked the Wizard then closed it without doing anything. Unfortunately, Wizard changed by frame type to +4 without any reminding. This caused the crash in coming next day.

      • Ok,

Well, Mission Planner has to default to something when the wizard starts.

I always do a hand test after changing/updating code.

But I see your point, a warning window maybe?

        • Yes, A warning window may be quite helpful. Or keeping everything unsaved before one clicks finish in Wizrds, this is the default Windows program behavior I got used to.

I didn't do any cautious test befoce taking off because I thought I just clicked Wizrd and nothing would have been changed. I should have been more careful.

          Thanks again.
