Hi all,

Looking about the forum I can see there is lots of competitions in America and Australia but what I would like to know is if there is any in Europe. As I live in britain I would be really interested in them but I have had a look around the internet but can't find any.

Does anyone know of any?

Thanks

I'm not sure how good your french is, but here is one to try:

http://www.minidrones.fr/fr/
The "Challenge Mini-Drones 2007-2009" was for student innovation projects with max 70cm wingspan and the final listing and price attribution was in May 2009. So it's over.
Well shall we have one???
Every year there is the EMAV (European Micro Air Vehicle) conference and competition.

This year this is in September in the Netherlands, see www.emav09.org - > competition.
Next year the event is in Braunschweig. A summary from last year is shown in
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2708505435033870436
I was at this event.

Best regards
Tumba
I think we should gary:-)

The EMAV 09 contest looks good are you competing in it Tumba? I take it your in a team or are you competing by yourself.

The 09 contest may be a little to close for me to compete in but next year would be good... I might put something together for that.
Do you think we should go on a trip to Holland Ryan??

Maybe we could cobble something together for it!
I was at the EMAV 08 event. 2nd place outdoor dynamics. :-)

Currently I have no planes to go to the EMAV09 event. I will wait for the detailed description of the EMAV10 missions. The location is only 100 km from here. But my main nuisance is the conference fee of 450 Euro. You can only participate, when you pay the fee... Ok, I pay money for travel, accomodation... but why give money to show my aircrafts? 2008 I was there in a high shool team, so the shool pays this for me. :-)
Yeah high entrance fees to events seems the norm, we should have a grassroots fun one in Europe
I think that is a great idea!
Just had a thought, one way of doing it might be an honesty based postal type thing.

Not sure how we might do it but perhaps a course of GPS waypoints laid out and each person then moves that layout to their flying area, then sends track logs of aircraft making there way around the course perhaps with a video clip??

That way not travelling involved ;-)

As I say it involves honesty, but then anybody from around the world could enter. No prizes, just the honour!!!

Every month maybe?? Different task.

Anyhow I throw the concept open to the floor.
I like the idea gary. We would have to set some rules and like you say it would need photographic/video evidence and probably the tracking on a mapping software to show you done it.

It could run the line of flying a set route overlayed onto your flying area taking pics at certain points before flying back and dropping an egg/flourbomb/paintball with a 5m targt with onboard video proof or something....

It would take some discussion and some rule setting but I would be up for it....
Yeah something very simple to start with though, a figure eight or racing oval.

Maybe a 500m line, fly around it, perhaps 5 times and then submit the time.

Something very simple.

I'm also keen that evidence of having fun is there as well. If it all gets too serious then I'm out.
