Hello everyone,

As this is my first post I'd first like to say that the DIYdrone website was really a big booster on getting to want to build my wing. Really enjoyed surfing the site and seeing all those projects coming to light with tips and help from the community.

I've always loved flying crafts and my family and I used to build them some when I was a kid, we built two from scratch and those both crashed after a flew flights, they were motorised gliders, and I'd now like to build a wing, as their nervousness and power in flight was always something that left me in awe.

The last motorglider we built I got most the parts from, that one wasnt built from scratch and was assembled from a pre-made kit. It was an Aspire RTF EP. The motor appears to be a "500-600"motor, it's pretty big, and weights 230 grams.

I have some questions about the motor:

- How much power does "500" mean? There are no indications whatsoever written on the motor...

- This motor was intended for a glider, meaning, it's not supposed to always be on, but rather procure a large amount of power to the airplane for going back up, then being turned off so the plane can go fishing for that warm air, Will this large motor be appropriate for the flying wing I intend to build, or will it be too powerful, and thus consume the batteries charge straight away, Would it suffer from heat buildup because of prolonged use (I don't want the foam to melt mid-air!)

Now a few questions about the wing itself:

- I'm going to build this from kadapak foam, it's an architectural modeling foamboard widely used here in france and i've got load of it, I'm pretty sure it's going to be alright, it's like blue foam but has paper on each side so as to give it a nice finish.

- Seeing as i'll be sporting probably about 600grams of hardware, (motor, battery, and servos), what kind of wingspan should I be looking at? I'd like this wing to be on the nervous side but still stable in sturdy wings...

In terms of airfoil profile; the MH32 seems to be looking good from comments I fished here and there on the DIYdrone forums, but i'm not sure, anybody have experience willing to share with this airfoil?

One of the builds i was planning on copying was this:

But adding, 30% more wingspan, he seems to have a really small motor and battery for a small wing, seeing as i'm using some oldschool tech, I figure I should be giving more wing proportionally.

Lastly: my sailplane has a folding prop, which is obviously no good, any advice on what kind i should be getting?

Thanks

Louis.
