hanging while connecting to MP

Now when I try to connect it hangs on RC 10 TRIM. I just updated to latest MP then tried to connect and it hung on RC 8. When I cancelled there was an update to Arducopter 3.1.1. So I updated that and was successful, then when I try to connect to MP it hangs on RC 10.

Where do I start looking? Ive had it before that it would hang on RC8, but then the next day it worked.

Any explanation or help appreciated. Thankyou

Should add I am connecting over USB

  • I had the same problem after the firmware update. I disconnected the gimbal servoes and the MP connected succesfully. Hope this helps. Now I have reconnected them.

    • I tried everything disconnected every which way I could think of. My board is failed for whatever reason haven't replaced it yet. waiting to see if Pixhalk works successfully, then I might buy that.

  • Hi George.

Do you solve your problem ?

In fact I had exactly the same issue. Hopefully I got a solution.

In my case that was my mistake. I add a 5v FPV camera. In order to power the camera I connect it to the APM 5V. I decided to use an empty analog pin connector for that. Mistake, instead of connecting the camera power supply to an analog pin connector I connected it to the ISP connector. In fact on the APM 2.5 we have 12 analog pins connector and just near to that pins the 6 ISP pins.

Result, same problem as you. Connection to MP hang on RC10_TRIM.

I just moved my connection to a real analog pin and all ok.

  • Is there a solution to this yet?

I tested voltage... 3.3V... any ideas?

    MCB

    • no, my board is no good , haven't replaced it yet.

  • Can anyone help me? Is this a mission planner problem, or an APM2.5, or firmware, or computer?

redid the firmware update again now it hangs on RC6. not sure what I should do next.

Read on one discussion that the automatic  update to mission planner didn,t work so well so to go to the update section, but that was with MPv1.2.53 and I assumed that was fixed. I have 1.2.94 BTW.

does this need to be posted in another forum?

One discussion had to do with the 3.3volts reg. I checked mine and it seems OK.

I don,t know if there is an explanation in the log files, as far as I know there are no files because it never gets connected. Am I right or am I looking in the wrong place?

    • 3.3 volt regulator probably blown
      • Thats what I've checked several times. as I've read through that thread, but mine gives exactly 3.3.

I was following another thread "Is my 2.5 bricked" and was wondering if reflashing firmware too many times can cause problems? When you do this does it wipe apm clean before it uploads new firmware? Basically I reloaded firmware say 8 times in an hour, you can tell I'm not good at this, is this something that could pooch my board?
