is it possible to use a Kinect for land mapping and improve quality of autolanding?

The ardupilot doesnt have the bandwidth to process kinect data so you would have to introduce another board to get that done.
No. 800Mbps is USB2 speed and the Kinect needs almost all of that. Even if we could connect at that speed we don't have the power to do anything with all the information. Thats why Kinect SLAM systems are running on PicoITX or MiniITX systems.

But I asked about functionality.

1. Could Kinect do a land serace recognizing (not body recognizing)? 

2. Can we use this info (if could) for improve the autolanding quality?
