For the motor contorller (quad half-h driver) I notice in the shipping kit and in the published schematic, you use the L293D, but in the parts list you mention the SN754410NE. Why did you switch? Was there a problem with the SN754410NE?

The new one can handle more power. Both work, but the SN754410NE has more safety overhead.
The SN754410NE also seems a bit cheaper. The pinouts look the same, so I assume it's a drop-in replacement.
