Mission Planner doesnt open after installing Win XP

I had a major crash on my GCS laptop and for what every reason I can no longer install Win7. Ive now managed to get Win XP and Ubuntu installed and have installed Net framework 4 and done the XP 3 service pack etc and all updated.

Now what am I missing why MP wont open?. It gets to the terminal and splash screen and then just shuts off and that's as far as I can get it.

Any ideas and what I am missing to make it run?

You need the Net framework 3.5

thanks Chris, I had 3 installed and it didn't work so tried 4. didn't know NF was so temperamental.

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.
