Need UAV capable of carrying an iphone or Droid

Hi,

I am looking for a relatively cheap platform for carrying mobile phones.

Our application, www.gpslogbooks.com, currently provides real time tracking for mobile phones.  We are working on giving it photo and video capability and to demonstrate this we want to strap our phone onto a drone and send it aloft.

We are looking for something is cheap, but has the payload capacity to handle a mobile phone, such as an iPhone or Droid.

Any thoughts on what would make a good platform?

Cheers,

James

Any standard RC model trainer will do that the Easystar would be great. If you must have a UAS then we will happily sell you one http://www.yellowplane.co.uk

Remember though that would be a commercial UAS flight and in the USA you would need a COA to undertake it.

Your a little behind the drag curve though, Pictearth used the Nokia N95 a couple of years ago.

Yes, almost anything can do that, even an EasyStar. We went through our smartphone phase a few years ago, but maybe the current generation will prove more useful.
Thanks for the info. I had looked at the Easystar, but I didn't know how it would go with a payload that heavy. We are flying in Australia, so we shouldn't have too many legal hassles.

The phones have come a long way. even two years ago, GPS was very much a novelty and it wasn't great in terms of performance. Now many phones have GPS and the cameras are getting a lot better too. We have proof of concepts of streaming video, it is now just a question of packaging it all up into the same application.

Thanks

James
Hi,

One of our guys has an Ele-Bee and we have been using that with an Android mobile phone.

Here is a link to the flight, and some photos that we were able to get.
