*solved* Problem Flashing Ublox...

Hello,

I bought the rctimer Ublox GPS.

--------------------------------------

GPS CN06 Features:

         ·Standalone GPS receiver

         ·u-blox NEO-6M GPS module

         ·EEPROM for save configuration permanently

         ·Build in 25X25mm active antenna

·UART (TTL) port with EMI protection

·Rechargeable battery for backup/hotstart

Default parameter

         ·Baud rate : 9600

If this GPS receiver used for I2C-GPS NAV Board, it must be changed to baud rate 115200 / update rate 5hz.

--------------------------------------

I connected this module to my pc and installed the u-center 7.02.

Suddenly there is a question box asking me if I am sure to write the (3DR-Ublox.txt) file on to the gps.

Should I flash or not?

  • Go ahead. It is normal... dont worry about this dialog box. Update it with 3dr file. I have done this.. works like a charm.
  • Problem solved.

I found a solution somewhere in the forum:

You can't reprogram firmware in the cheaper NEO units. All you need to do in u-center is Tools / GPS Configuration, select File > GPS, tick the nonvolatile memory option, select 3DR-Ublox.txt and upload to your unit.

After the GPS restarts in the new config, you'll see in u-center that bar-graphs don't show anything but you'll still see info in one pane about lat/long, number of sats, hdop and pdop.

Also, browsing config, your serial baud will be 38400, refresh at 250 ms / 4 Hz and output is UBX-only.

    @CyberCrash,

I believe that the RCtimer NEO-6M is not the same model GPS as the 3DR LEA-6 and you may have a problem attempting to flash it with the 3DR configuration text file.

    Just a thought.
