Hi all,

Does anyone have suggestions for traveling by air with your UAV? Packing suggestions to avoid damage? Security suggestions to avoid delays? (I hear that LiPos should be carried on, not checked.)

I read Paul's post here:
http://diydrones.com/profiles/blog/show?id=705844%3ABlogPost%3A2608

but would love to hear about more people's experiences. How about all of you who went to last year's SparkFun Autonomous Vehicle Competition? Did you just drive there? Fly and cary on your planes?

Thanks!
Ben

Jordi and I use hard golf club carriers. Go for the biggest one you can find.
Here's a picture of the ones we use:

Awesome, thanks Chris. It looks like that will probably fit my Multiplex Mini Mag.
Ben,
Lipos to be carries in discharged condition only in a metal box. They appear Green in security scanners when fully charged and even for safety reasons for us (lipos are live bombs sometimes). Other then this everything is just fine , no problems with security clerances. Yes the nitro and GAs UAVs do have many issues..YOU can't carry fuel with you. You need MSDS (material safety data sheet) for the fuel and need to be preapproved in a safe container.. I have done this though but it takes about a week to clear. Rest evrything is fine. I have travelled internationally also , you need letter from the organisers to show security people and have it stamped when you come back.
