Ryan, that's an interesting question. Can you tell us a bit more? When you say "commercial gyros", what kind do you mean? And how would a gyro know what kind of servos, to say nothing of control loops, an autopilot might use?

I am referring to Heading Hold Gyros for r/c helicopters. Baiscally the issue is this: Because servos are not instantaneous, they introduce lag into the controller.

Yes, is this, for example, like the delay pot on a GY401 that you're referring to?

Created a basic simulator to get the general idea of how servo lag affects the tail rotor and phase lag. Sort of interesting project but completely inaccurate, but very helpful to see the basic trends of what to expect. Should be really easy to develop now even if the numbers mean nothing more than general trends!
