Hi Bill, Yes, I still have the modified board, which I believe started as a UDB2 now that I think about it.  It's still mounted on that blue foam wing plane that wasn't meant to last more than a couple weeks, under a significant…

Hey look, it's a UDB quad copter!  Good to see some of the old familiar names again.  What's really funny is that I was digging through my bag of UDB3 stuff the other day, which made me think to check SF to see if there was a new…

MT3329 default mode write protected?

Greetings,I bought a couple of these for a project where I'm just using them with an XBee to send GPS info.  While the default mode will work, I'd much rather change it to something more suitable. Unfortunately, it appears that the NV RAM has been write protected, since it says 0 for the number of times remaining to be updated.  If you try the update anyway, it just says flash failed.  Has anyone else confirmed that you can't change the power up default settings?  Does anyone know of a place…See More

Hi Jani, Are you saying the MTek is better because of the higher update rate? It's certainly cheaper. Any idea how good are the MTek unit is at resisting interference from 1280 MHz video transmitters? Just this past weekend, I found that I…

13brv3 replied to Chris Anderson's discussion 'Which Quadcopter should we adopt?'
Chris, I think one of the requirements for a DIY Drones platform should be "Arduino based". The Aeroquad is one of the better known units, but there have been a few others as well I believe. I would not consider the UAVX a good choice…

Hi Chris, Glad that worked. The UDB outputs pulses at a slower rate than the receiver does, so maybe the ESC takes that into consideration somehow. You'd really have to put a scope on the throttle signal going to the ESC to see what's…

Hi Chris, I use the Turnigy Plush ESCs (18A and 30A) with the UDB, so I know they will work OK. You might be on the very edge of the throttle range. When the ESC doesn't arm, are you getting a constant beep-beep-beep-beep... from the motor?…

Hi Pete, I'm not sure what 4 pin connector your referring to, but for something expendable like a connector, just cut the pins, and remove them one at a time. That's what I'd do with the gyros where possible. Solder wick, dipped in…

Hi Bill, In my opinion, not offering an upgrade board would be a very unpopular decision. Just looking at the gyros, I don't see anything so difficult about replacing them. It may not be "Solder 101" but it seems reasonably…

Hi Bill, Hopefully, SparkFun can make these boards available for people to upgrade their current UDB. Is that part of the plan? Thanks, Rusty

I'm assuming those new gyros are retrofitted to the current board? If so, will that be an option for the rest of us? I'd love to know if they're more resistant to RF interference than the old gyros are. Rusty

Really nice looking board Jordi! I'm constantly impressed by your work. By the time we think about something that would be nice to have, you've already got it finished :-) Cheers, Rusty

13brv3 replied to Ed Hall's discussion 'Futaba FASST Receivers, and connection to ATMega, ArduPilot etc.'
For the FASST 6 and 7 channel receivers, you can solder a wire inside to get the first 5 channels of PPM, but channels 6 and 7 are not in PPM sequence. If you need more than 5 channels in the PPM stream, you'll need a PPM encoder. The 8 and 14…

Sorry, one other question. Is this GCS ground station the same as the one on the Ardupilot code page, or are they completely different? Thanks, Rusty

Greetings, I'm flying the UAV DevBoard, which now supports the Ardupilot data stream for telemetry. I'm using XBee modems, and can see the data in Hyperterminal at 57600 baud. I've installed all of the above software, and the…
