"Wow, talk about egg on my face. I hadn't realized the new pin configuration and there really isn't much documentation from Spektrum on that. Thanks so much for the info! The AR8000 works like a charm now!"

"@Aaron, I have yet to have a bad Spektrum receiver and I have an AR8000 too. You do know that the receiver output pins are the reverse of earlier Spektrum receivers? The PWM signal used to be on the top side of the receiver, but on the AR8000 and…"

Spektrum AR8000... two bad receivers?

I purchased a DX8 that came with an AR8000 8-channel receiver. I'm trying to use it for an ArduCopter that was built by jdrones. The first AR8000 wouldn't power up even though it was receiving the correct current (4.95 volts) from the ArduCopter APM. So I went and purchased another one today and tried it out. It won't power up, either! Is this common with Spektrum? I have read a lot of negative reviews and forum posts about trouble powering up and binding. Is there something I'm doing wrong?See More

Paul Feely replied to Aaron Yates's discussion Question on Spektrum RX8000
"Aaron, You can plug the power into any of the channels (the power lines are all connected together in a rail). The red cable (+ve) is connected to the middle pin, the black (-ve) to the outside edge. Hope that helps Paul"

Question on Spektrum RX8000

Am I connecting the wires correctly? And where do I connect the red and white power cable on the RX8000 receiver?I'm a total newb, by the way. Just going through the wiki and assembling everything but I can't find a diagram anywhere explaining which pins to plug in on the receiver.I made a short video showing what I've done so far. Is this right? And where does the power cable go?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb1oEPyRwiwSee More

Newbie ready to experiment with UAV on a big project

Greetings, all. For the past several years, I have led a project that involves the filming of a the length of a river from headwaters to a specific point for environmental purposes. For the past projects, we have hired a helicopter company and have had a camera operator in the passenger seat actually do the filming. This year, I'm looking at putting together a UAV system to do the same thing. Here are my plans and a couple of questions if anyone would be so kind as to answer them.I'm planning…See More
