Unable to arm hexa

I recently updated my 9x to er9x. Ever since doing so I am unable to arm my copter. I've run the radio calibration and it's picking up all my inputs just fine. Everything on the radio end seems to…Continue

Drive Stepper Motor via RC

I am trying to figure out a way to drive stepper motors via my RC Rx. I have been looking at Pololu stepper motor drivers but have gotten nowhere. Has anyone done this before? I just need a place to…Continue

Another Hexacopter Build

I started off small with a custom built quad and got the hang of flying multicopters...This just fueled the fire. After doing much research, attempting to build everything from scratch and failing, I…Continue

I have been interested in flying fpv for some time and now that I have enough flight hours under my belt I want to give it a shot. I've done some research and determined that 900mhz is the way to go.…Continue

"Maybe I'm missing something here, since I don't have that Tx/Rx but isn't the signal pin on the Rx the top pin?? In the top picture it looks like you are using the bottom pin. Again, I'm not sure if it's different on that…"

"Finally got around to messing with my copter and solved all my problems. I reloaded the f/w and recalibrated the radio. As soon as I finished this I was able to arm and fly my copter. Not sure what was going on before, but glad its fixed. Thanks…"

"I would calibrate them again just in case..It's not too hard when doing it automatically. Sounds like you have the same issue I do. Like I said, I'm just waiting for a f/w update so I can give a new version a try."

"Make sure they are calibrated...I am having the same issue, however, I have an APM1. Someone did mention to me that with the current AC f/w and an APM 2 you have to hit the reset button every time. I am still having the issue and am just waiting…"

"What do they motors do when you the arming LED goes solid? Are they beeping? Pictures, or video of the problems? Some more info would be helpful."

Vernon Barry replied to Andrew Adams's discussion Unable to arm hexa
"On APM2.0, because you must lit the reset after powering via BEC, it often is the wrong timing with the ESCs trying to go into their programming mode and they don't accept any input. SO yes, I have seen this before and what it takes is 3 or 4…"

"3D: Siemens NX 7.5 - Has all the features (and more) that I could ever want. AutoCAD Inventor - Easy to use 2D: AutoCAD 2011 - Been using it for many years and at this point it's easier than trying to go to something else. PCB: Eagle - Easy…"

"This sounds like what I am getting in my plane setup. Since new firmware update my ESC does not see any PWM signal and therefore beeps every 2 seconds and I have no throttle control. The blue LED on the Ardupilot board flashes very fast which I…"

My Custom Arducopter Frame - Part 2

Posted on September 12, 2011 at 3:49pm 9 Comments

Here is the laser cut acrylic mocked up...the laser doesn't do well with G10 so I had to find someone that would cut it for me until I build my own router.

Here is the main plate with the carrier boards. I have the vibration mounts(black things) supporting the carrier boards. The APM is mounted on top of the first carrier board with the Xbee on the very top. …

My Custom Arducopter Frame

Posted on September 9, 2011 at 7:30am 6 Comments

After a long arduous process of getting my copter up in the air, it finally flies. I was happy with it for a week or so but am now unhappy with the CD Case body/frame that I'm currently sporting. So I decided to design a frame that was perfect for my needs.

I did all the work in AutoCAD(sorry about the colors). It's a mashup of my own design and the official Arducopter design, among others.

First up I have a Quad & Hexa version. These main plates (as I…
