I meant the code which runs on the various micro controllers which are actually on board the airframes...I've looked on their wiki for quite a while...

Paparazzi flying software

I feel like a bit of an idiot asking this, as I'm sure there is a really simple answer (or there ought to be), but where is the code for the flying part, and its development logs, some mention the tools used to write it and load it and all that kind of thing (descriptions of the protocol or anything to do with the firmware of the flying bit) actually get stored/displayed? I have searched and searched and I cannot find any real mention of the software actually flying. My bad if this has been…See More

They have got a radio system integrated but at these sizes a high power/size radio and antenna would be impossible. GPS (although tiny now) would represent about half the board space.

If they have them equipped with some kind of wireless gear (think xbee) and GPS, they could be easily airdropped en masse over zones of interest and work in a swarm, covering huge areas, pushing data from sensors through the mesh back to HQ and self…

Beginner with $650

Posted on November 29, 2009 at 4:09am 22 Comments

My aim is to make a simple Ardupilot setup on a EasyStar for strictly £400 or $650 (but shipping is expensive globally as I'm in the UK). I have the Fidi programmer and reasonable Arduino experience so thats not a problem but I want to know, for instance whether the 4Hz GPS is worth the extra $100 etc. (I already have the 32 Channel LS20031 GPS 5Hz Receiver carried by sparkfun) and a Spectrum DX5e w/ receiver.

Any mods to the EasyStar worth doing to start with? (I can get it for £80 inc.… Continue

Everybodies Blog post feed and google reader

Posted on June 13, 2009 at 12:26pm 6 Comments

Just recently I have had a few odd problems when using Google Reader to view the "Everybodies Blog Posts - DIYDrones" feed. The last 7 posts to go on the feed (from Fred and Den) have had after them about 100 links after the small body of text. The ads (I think that's what they are) seem to have no relavence to the post. The posts themselves seem pretty unconnected with the DIYDrones theme but it is an open area so I don't mind. Could someone test to see if they have had a similar problem when… Continue
