So if it has encrypted serial output, what is actually reading and decrypting it? Is it software? The software could likely be reversed...

We know the device works and outputs good values to the screen. Since it's a simple 7-segment display for the numbers shown on the screen, why not take off the LCD and decode the outputs to the screen? Although for DIYDrone…
