I have a Turnigy 9X transmitter.  My understanding is that this outputs PPM encoded channels.  That is, there are eight separate channels, as separate signals,  that are each PPM encoded. Is there an…Continue

8 Channel PPM encoder

I am struggling to get a PPM signal that I can use to send to the ArduIMU to implement Jose Julio's quadcopter design.I have a Turnigy 9X TX with the 8ch receiver.  From the receiver comes PWM and I know I have connection with the TX because I can see it on a scope and can also control servos.  I connected all 8 channels from the receiver to the PPM encoder I bought from the DIY Store but am not seeing the channels coded as PPM.  In fact, using a scope, the only channel I can see making any…See More

Andrew Dunlop replied to James Pistorino's discussion PPM Encoding
"PPM generally implies a single signal with all channels present. This is often the signal that appears out of the buddy connector. PPM is separated into separate PWM channels in the receiver."

PPM Encoding

I have a Turnigy 9X transmitter.  My understanding is that this outputs PPM encoded channels.  That is, there are eight separate channels, as separate signals,  that are each PPM encoded. Is there an easy way to combine the separate signals into a single, PPM encoded signal that has all eight channels?  I am trying to avoid writing code that will do that myself and use something already developed/available.I understand that the DIY Stores PPM encoder outputs a single single PPM encoded signal…See More

Turnigy/iMax 9X/PPM/Arduimu Quadcopter Mini

As always, I apologize in advance for the newbie nature of my question.I have a Turnigy/iMax 9X transmitter and receiver.  I am attempting to build a quadcoputer following Jose Julio's design and using his code.  As implemented, he uses a single pin on the Arduimu as a PPM input, then parses the PPM signal to get individual channels. Thus, the single PPM signal must have multiple channels within it.  Indeed, it would seem that you would need at least three channels.  Jose designed his system…See More

Doug Weibel replied to James Pistorino's discussion Newbie Wiring Question/ArduIMU/8ch Receiver
"Hi James, I think Christof made a mistake. The standard connector format for receivers, servos, etc. is [Gnd, Vcc, Signal], not signal in the middle. The ArduPilot code is not written to deal with a PPM frame, only individual PWM pulse trains.…"

Newbie Wiring Question/ArduIMU/8ch Receiver

I am trying to complete my first build of an ArduIMU v2 (flat) quadcopter (using Jose Julio's version as a guide).I am close and just need to connect the receiver.I bought a Turnigy 9TX transmitter that comes with an 8 ch receiver.  While it was relatively cheap, quality it is not.  It looks almost remanufactured and there was a lose screw rattling around inside.  One thing it does not come with is a manual or wiring diagram of any kind to help the newbies of the world. So, a few questions:1)…See More
