Has anyone tried to remove the IR filter from their HD Hero camera? I wan to try and take near IR pictures with my Gopro but I am reluctant to crack it open without knowing if it has been done before.

Calculating a motor for a flying wing

I wanted to start gathering parts for my Zepher flying wing, so I grabbed my computer to do some motor calculations but I am not sure where to start, what Kv.  It seems to me there was a weight or…Continue

DIY Camera Trigger

Started this discussion. Last reply by Bertrand Duchiron Mar 24, 2011. 16 Replies

Does anyone have plans for a simple camera trigger I could build that can automatically trigger the shutter at pre programed intervals.  Ideally after it was set up, all I would need to do is power…Continue

I broke my first one my dropping it on a tile floor - shattered the lens into hundreds of pieces. When I opened it up, I discovered that the whole lens+CCD asembly is VERY tightly glues and screwed together. It's extremely difficult to get into…

Cularis Fuse Mods for Webbie

Posted on December 21, 2009 at 4:06pm 0 Comments

I started work on my Multiplex Cularis fuselage the other day and here is what I did so far:

This is where I want the Webbie to go in the fuselage. Even if the lens sticks out a tiny bit, it shouldn't touch the ground because of the shape of the fuse and how it sits on the ground. Also, this pic shows the Webbie face down. I am going to flip the camera over onto its' back. This way, the transmitted image will face forward since the image flips when you rotate the lens over to face… Continue

Camera setup for my future UAV

Posted on December 9, 2009 at 3:30pm 11 Comments

My UAV build has officially started. In order to make the whole process easier, I am taking one system at a time. First up is the camera setup. Not necessarily a logical starting point but I have the camera and I can always use it on an RC aircraft until the UAV is done. Also, this gives me a chance to practice with it and tweak.

I used a Webbie for the camera. Just remove three screws and carefully pop the back cover off to gain access to the photo and video buttons.…
