Helicopter + PCTx

Hi everyone! I previously worked on a project that involved having the computer control a RC helicopter via the endurance PCTx. I wanna start another one with similar setup but a bigger plane. My…Continue

MaxSonar EZ1 Reading Fluctuations

Started Sep 28, 2010 0 Replies

Hi all!I'm using a MaxSonar EZ1 for range sensing triggering via the RX output pin (and usnig PW for data). I hooked it up and it does provide me with readings. However, I noticed a high degree of…Continue

"I don't really know the details but according to this wikipedia article it looks like the transmitter and receiver spread the message across several frequencies.  I guess the point is that you've got a message that you're…"

"Kelvin, I have several of the PCTxs and they are quite picky about what transmitters they will work with. It will not work with my Futaba 6EX or my Spektrum DX5e. However, it does work with my other Spektrum transmitters. It will work with…"

"I see now. I'm not familiar with any know helicopter/ transmitter combos that work with the PCTx. sorry Hey Randy, how do you know that the spectrum spread tecnology causes the problems? Could you explain more because I've had problems…"

"Randy is right. If it was a standard transmitter/receiver pair then it could simply be swapped. However, Esky's 4-in-1 complicates the issue quite a bit.   Regardless, there is no reason I have to be married to Esky for life. I'm…"

"Yes, I think the issue is that the esky helis all use this 4-in-1 thing which is a combined receiver, gyro, esc (and something else).  On top of that the built in receiver uses this spectrum spread technology which is not compatible with the…"

"I'm confused on why you cannot simply switch the transmitter and receiver. Is the receiver built in? Or is the issue the transmitter is not compatible with the PCTx? I would believe any plane would work with…"

"Thanks for the reply. Yes, I meant the transmitters/receivers for the 2.4 GHz lama v3 weren't compatible with the PCTx. However, one should not view the transmitter/receiver issue as separate from the helicopter, since the helicopter itself…"

"Can you explain more on your problem with the esky's spread spectrum tech? When you say, what helicopters will work with the PCXt do you mean transmitters/ receivers?"

Helicopter + PCTx

Hi everyone! I previously worked on a project that involved having the computer control a RC helicopter via the endurance PCTx. I wanna start another one with similar setup but a bigger plane. My last plane was the esky coco lama v3, which could not carry much weight, so I'm hoping to use something that's the same size class as the esky big lama. One issue that I ran into last time was that the PCTx could not talk to the 2.4GHz coco lama v3 potentially due to Esky's spread spectrum tech on the…See More

MaxSonar EZ1 Reading Fluctuations

Hi all!I'm using a MaxSonar EZ1 for range sensing triggering via the RX output pin (and usnig PW for data). I hooked it up and it does provide me with readings. However, I noticed a high degree of fluctuation in the data. The readings would be 51 for about 5-10 seconds, then 0 for 5 seconds, then 8 for another five seconds, and then maybe return to the 50's range for a couple more seconds and so on. This is rather strange because instead of being just noise that one can filter out, the "weird"…See More
