Patrick commented on Chris Anderson's blog post ArduPilot Mega home page
"Thanks Chris. Do you think I should put a switch in there somehow so that I can choose to have the serial going via the FTDI, or via the other device? Or can I just wire straight onto it, and ignore the FTDI chip is there (I won't plug a USB…"

Patrick commented on Chris Anderson's blog post ArduPilot Mega home page
"Hi, I have a ArduPilot Mega board and the IMU, all soldered together and working. How do I use the 4th serial port? I have looked in all the documentation, it is confusing: port numbers are mixed up, schematics are very difficult to follow. As I…"

Patrick commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Futaba and Spektrum RC clones coming?
"Strange. I clicked on the link, and it was 17%, and then when I clicked on a few links and came back again, it dropped to 30%. "62.59 EUR instead of 89.90 EUR excl. VAT, adding postage""

Patrick replied to Patrick Mccabe's discussion Xbee is delayed and sending in packets
"Can you try sending a full length 72 byte packet? (I.E. "hello" with 67 spaces at the end?) That will force the xbee to send a packet."

Patrick commented on Jordi Muñoz's blog post Quick Post: ArduPilotMega Shield/OilPan Photos!
"I prefer red. It suits the Ardupilot Mega board much better. Hein, the new shield doesn't contain a magnetometer onboard. You can see the details here: http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/ardupilot-mega-updates-updates"

Patrick replied to WhiteQueen's discussion ArduPilot Voltage connection
"Not sure, but my guess would be to fiddle with the "0.000294117" value (some kind of correction / scaling value). Note that 1/0.000294117 = 3400 (see the magical 3.4 value?) If we replace that value with 0.000178571 , you should get the…"

"Can we reserve boards for when they come available? "Few more weeks away from production" Will they be available before the end of the month?"

Patrick commented on Chris Anderson's blog post ArduPilot Mega Now Available!
"The board itself isn't actually dimensionally smaller... The advantages are not only the capability to attach more servo's, but that there is a more powerful processor on board, and a heap more I/O (especially 4 serial ports, so you can…"

Patrick commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Roboseed (autonomous monocopter)
"I assume the lateral control is done by changing the pitch of the wing during part of the rotation, and then putting it back during the other half, so there is more lift on one side, thus resulting in the monocopter tilting, which makes the…"

Patrick commented on Jordi Muñoz's blog post ArduPilot Mega Updates, updates!
"Hi, What is the estimated price for the IMU shield? I have read (http://diydrones.com/profiles/blog/show?id=705844%3ABlogPost%3A142507&page=4#comments) that it was going to be about $139. Is there a more recent estimated price? Patrick"

Patrick replied to mark's discussion Autonomously follow vehicles
"I would use a CMUcam. See: http://www.cmucam.org/ It's got an onboard processor that is capable of image recognition features, and communicates via a serial port (which the ardupilot mega has PLENTY of). All software is open-source too."
