Why not just use the 9x! The 9x and the Frsky are the same. The Frsky has telemetry down now all we need is an uplink mod for the RX! Why not go that route? It is a slow link but what the hey I think it would solve this issue? Or at least be…

Any updates on availability? Just curious what parts are the rate limiting part?

The proper sensor for doing this is a differential GPS. The next best will be the new barometric sensor on the new APM 2.0 boards. The other problem is how do you seperate a vertical wind gust (downdraft/thermal) and a object or cliff passing…

I am doing something similar with USB flight controllers and a little industrial PC on the ground connected to a 900MHz radio and in the air coming out of the 900mhz radio via serial to a micro which converts my data stream to PPM.  I wanted to…

Very cool idea.  I wanted to do the same thing- 1transmitter, 1reciever, ALL the data in/out.  My concern was bandwidth in the Xbee system.  I am using the 2.4gHz turnigy 9x too, 900mHz Xbee, and will use the new 1.3gHz for FPV and…

I made the recomendation to try GPS velocity, and I don't know if those suggestions influenced your test changes or not, but in any case some comments on my system that might be appropriate... I had the following loop: Desireed position vs…

Take a stab at it! Last Friday I went the complete opposite direction and flew without an RC Tx. I tried out the joystick only functionality of Mission Planner on my APM1 quad using APC220 modems. Using a Logitech 3d pro joystick, there are enough…

Alternate Transmitter/Telmetry scheme...

Long ago in a galaxy far far away I built an RC solar plane.http://www.rasdoc.com/splinter/solar2004.htmI have a lot of switching power electronics on this plane and it was before 2.4Ghz radios were common. The power electronics caused interphereence with both 50 and 72Mhz RC transmitters. So I made a system where I replaced the module on the back of my JR transmitter with a little CPU that read the PPM signal and used a maxstream 900Mhz…See More

Fun with an helicopter autopilot.

Posted on June 4, 2011 at 10:30pm 15 Comments

I've setup my helicopter (Trex 600 with self written autopilot ) so I could position it via RC then tell it to freeze in place.

Today I had fun with that out at the Friends of Amateur rocketry site.

Its been a long 20 hour day and I'm tired. I have to catch a plane in the morning so I won't get a chance to do this later.

I'm uploading the view from the helicopter. It should…

I have no asociation with Frys, I'm just a customer.
I bought one of these at the store ($99) and now they are on sale.
I have not actually taken my unit out into the field yet, but on the bench in the garage it is very nice.

Most people don't photograph the shuttle viewing area, instead preferring to focus their SD cards on something else, but theoretically this is where you were. Took a very irate boss as regards staff taking vacations to get that shot.
