Profile Information

About Me:
I started flying RC gliders in the early 1990s then had a period of about 15 years doing other things. I became interested in RC gliders again in 2007 and built several battery operated versions for taking aerial photographs. I learnt to fly again using the EasyGlider but I now use one of my own designs which is easier to handle and has more room for electronic equipment than the EasyGlider. I have a new model under development which has increased space, perfect for a UAV perhaps.

A new forum has started this week based around the goGPS project. One of its objectives is to provide a low cost high accuracy GNSS solution, accuracy being in the 0.3 – 0.5m range. At the moment it is a research project. The history so far

These are the most important papers I've read with regard to RTKGPS, they are also bang upto date. It is worth spending time study the tables.

Walkabout Mode in which versions?

Posted on November 10, 2009 at 12:30am 2 Comments

"ArduPilot's vehicle (car or boat) mode can also be used for ground testing aircraft navigation or as a simple navigation-only autopilot for aircraft with a separate stabilization system to provide a full autopilot solution. It is enabled by selecting "Walkabout mode" in the configuration settings."

Which versions of ArduPilot have Walk about mode? Thanks

Introduction

It's 33 degrees in the shade, I'm on holiday and everyone keeps asking what am I scribbling and why? Why, well when you post notes and ideas up on the net it can open up avenues you had never even thought of, and thats ultimately where these bits of paper are heading. The what, this is a little more complicated.

A few years ago I became focused on treasure hunting and have wondered how you can change the odds of success, is it possible to locate… Continue

GPS base stations

Posted on July 14, 2009 at 2:30pm 23 Comments

A few years ago I use to do a large amount of GPS work, using Topcon base stations with Leica Rovers. The Topcon base was cheaper than the Leica alternative, but still they cost several thousand dollars. I would like to use a base station to have sub meter accuracy of an autonomous vehicle and also to be able to post process recorded data. The budget I have does not stretch to 1000s of dollars, at best maybe I could manage a few hundred, is it therefore possible to develop a base station for… Continue

our LIDAR sensor is a 160 gm sensor whcich will be mounted on a quad copter.
Its job is to plot 2d "nearness diagram" which will be one of the navigational aids.
I will get you the specifications.
