"Well, as Kevin said, the red board is where the problem is. Either replace the IC, or replace the board. Being that it's $65 vs the $150 of the oilpan shield (blue board), how much is reliabity worth to you? Further, APM 2.0 is less complicated…"

"Ok, there are a few things that are different about APM 1.0 vs APM 2.0 that make your troubleshooting an intermittent issue like this harder. The APM 1.0 uses a multiplexer IC and thus that is one possible point of failure. This chip is on the red…"

APM 1.0 Randomly Stops Transmitting PWMs?? Aircraft crashes...

So our plane crashed while flight testing the APM 1.0. The aircraft simply stopped responding to pilot control as if the entire board shut off. We were not using any autopilot modes but was in manual. We recovered the autopilot as it was completely intact while being protected by a wooden enclosure. We set up a test bed with the receiver connected to the APM 1.0 and servos from both the APM rail and the receiver. The receiver and the APM board are powered independently on a power supply, and we…See More

No Logs from Crashed Ardupilot 1.0

Our plane just went down today. The pilot was in manual mode and I was monitoring the telemetry on the GCS laptop. All of a sudden Mission Planner freezes and the pilot goes "I have no control!" The plane goes down and we have no idea what happened. It would appear the Mission Planner froze due to the lost of COM Link as that is what it always does when the Xbee flakes out. However, the pilot lost control due to the receiver com link being down as well. It seems the autopilot just died,…See More

Hi Steve, Im really sorry the part for the chassis was defective. It just so happened that I had the same issue today when trying to put together a chassis. There must have been a bad batch somewhere along the way, because all others seem assemble perfectly. Please send an email to help@3drobotics.com with your information and exactly which part it is you need replaced and first thing on monday I will personally take care of it. Seems like you are in Cali so you should get it in no time. Again sorry this happened.
