i,m sorry Andy just realized i have a inbox ! only code i have any experience with is basic stamp and html and most of what Ive done was twisting others code to suit my needs ,what i would do is find an open source community that has done something similar and join them and ask for help , at least you could see some of the problems and solutions they have found and build upon that for the xbee adapter this shouldn't be to hard that's why i suggested it. this site has some info open source xbee adapter with this all you should have to do is replace the the power supply with a more powerful one and rearrange the pin outs to suit your module . about the tx/rx project that sounds like a grand idea but has a lot of competition and pitfalls and will require a lot through testing and knowledge which i don't have
