"that was my whole initial question, if I was able to download just the design and print it myself...:) As mentioned, I'm not happy with the price and the toughness of the material from shapeways... Anyhow, thanks for your infos. dan"

"Sure, you can get it at Shapeways here: http://www.shapeways.com/model/448302/firefly_mark_one___trex_configuration.html?gid=sg125984 There's also one, that has a larger mounting plate, that'll fit AeroQuad, which uses a full sized…"

"I print the hub with 2mm thickness. Trust me it's tough enough.  I crashed it enough times to attest to that. The best thing about printing it in 3D, is no drilling, no cutting.  I reinforced it everywhere, by just copying a cross…"

"Dan check out my 3D printed Firefly Mark One frame.  You can angle the motors to your heart's desire.  The motor mounts are 3D printed too, and made for cheap 12mm Trex 450 tail booms. Check out the blog."

"It´s very complicate, I agree. But It makes the difference if you want a very smooth fly. The risk to tune the quad structure is to make a bad tunning and instead of attenuation you´re going to have amplification!! In this case is better…"

Measuring and avoiding vibration effects on quads 2

Following my previous post, I've also tried a new frame design, with my original round tubes cut in half and attached together with 2 MikroKopter.de carbon fibre central plates.

I wonder if these central…

Measuring and avoiding vibration effects on quads

Following my previous unsuccessful attempts at building a quadcopter (I have serious issues with the balancing and stability) I've decided that it's likely all this is due to VIBRATIONS and it was time to…

Here's a long post about my first attempt at building a quadcopter.

One interesting and rather different feature is that I tried to use a .NET micro framework board (FEZ DOMINO)…
