The first part is showing the end effector at a central tool point while all the axi'es coordinate to its point if calibrated right. If the base (mounting of robot) moves the frame moves and the tracking as well such as the points have to be retrained. Robots 101.

That's awesome.

Reminds me a few months ago I was at a manufacturing expo, and they had all of these state of the art CNC machine tools set up.  That was really impressive as well.  The most fascinating was actually the automatic punchpress.

Kamu, new industrial bots are anywhere from tens to hundreds of thousand USD, an easy decision for many companies with high manufacturing labor costs.  If you want a robotic arm for your desk, I like this one and this one.  They are both somewhat hackable. Here is code for usb control.
