Cheap GPS modules at DealExtreme

DealExtreme threw some gps modules on their site today. Most of them are GlobaSat SIRF Star III modules (at least, that is what DX claims them to be, check your facts by checking the datasheets) and there is one EM-411.sku_80045_1_small.jpg

Prices are in the range of US$ 14.30 - 14.90 for the GlobalSat modules and US$ 28.30 for the GlobalSat EM-411. Shipping is free (or included in the price).

  • Adding to the $100 uav
    Gyro Wii nun-chuck $6
mechanical title switches to "recenter"? like
    http://letsmakerobots.com/node/26005 $4?
    so around $84
  • Has anyone used any of these?  Any pros or cons?  Do they work with APM?
  • Idea for time trial - fly a $100 uav:

    GPS $14-28

    Autopilot ~$25

    Motor/battery/ESC $20

    SPAD Airframe / servos  $15

    ??

  • Update frequency according to manual:

    et-318: 1Hz

    et-3531: 1Hz

    et-314: 1Hz

    et-3631: 1Hz

    em-411, I don't know

I expect all other modules to have the same rate, I didn't find their manuals so it's a bit guessing...

  • Hi,

good news, what is he  update frequency of this module?

    Thanks.

  • This is cool - it cuts the GPS price in half - and suggests a $100 drone may be possible.
  • DealExtreme is - or would appear to be - a broker - much like amazon is for much of its catalog. My orders arrive in spits and spats; but it all gets here.

  • Yes the re-fund only took aprox one week.. but indeed my buy was from a recently posted item thatbefore and  after my order was in-stock and continue to be in-stock all the time but they never shipped it for 3 weeks... but  that was only my case and dont mean that the same will happen to others :)
  • They are indeed slow with shipping, although in my experience it is better to buy items listed recently than items that are listed long ago. I always received my items, never had to cancel an order. I hope it was easy to get your money back from them...
  • Great deal but dont trust DE, had issues with them, never shipped a in-stock product for 3 weeks, so i decided to cancel the order... i have read that for other people they work just fine.. but that was mi case... thanks for the info. ! ;)
