I've been hearing about a new UAV company called Whisper Aerospace that's focused on the low end of the nascent domestic commercial sector. Founders include our own Patrick Egen and Lucien Miller, the electrical engineer who does the terrific Power Systems Corner on the All Things That Fly podcast and runs Inno8tiveDesigns.

The company is still in stealth mode, but here's what they are saying about their plans:

"Whisper Aerospace is a new company founded by a group of individuals with a very diverse range of technical skills, all working to create and bring to market the first Commercial/Civilian UAVs that will be able to fly in the NAS (National Airspace System). Our UAVs will feature reasonable payload capacity and operational performance, thereby offering clients considerable flexibility in solving their needs for an airborne platform that is not hampered by the relatively low performance and restricted operational capabilities of current systems. Multiple communications protocols and power sources will be available inside our standardized payload modules in order to make it easier to integrate client hardware. Our ground control systems will be very user-friendly and offer a wide range of options and customizable features."

Its still around, but not much traffic on the site, always seemed a good idea, very good idea.

I half smile every time I see there ideas reinvented every once in a while here.

Pats agenda finally exposed! I was wondering why he was so avidly discouraging UAV development on the rcgroups forum. He was trying to hamper any competition. That's not very "naderesque" Pat :)

I have just been reading through some of his posts on there now and find it is difficult to believe just how sly and manipulative this Egan dude is! And he's the so called moderator of the UAV section, which makes the whole UAV forum corrupt. No points for guessing who's autopilots they intend on using either.

Can you post some of the RCGroups links here?

Whisper hits the big time!
Thanks Chris for trying to put out the good word on the start up. My participation is primarily on the regulatory side of building a better mousetrap. Any company building a system without participation in the (Global) regulatory side of things is only adding to the gamble.

Pop over to Runryder.com and have a gander at PatrickEgan's posts, and the ensuing flame wars. Egan is just a handful of BS wrapped up in a hidden agenda. I'm surprised he's not here looking for more assistance writing his rcapa notes for him......

Yes, this spring I would see him jump into alot of the threads at RCGroups and repeat every time: "You can't do that! It's against the regs!", and now here he is involved in a commercial venture intending exactly the things he said we couldn't do!
