About Me:

RC and Robotics hobbyist for 6 years. I became inspired by DIY drones after reading an artical in Make magazine. I have always wanted to fly RC planes and with the family now on their own I bought my first plane two years ago and learned to fly.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

My origional interest was in vision based ground vehicles however I cannot resist the UAV idea with available technology. I have viewed a number of DIY UAV vidios and am very impressed.

"Hello Sebastian, I see the name Brifly on the above but can't help think I have posted or not quite understand the nature of this site. Whether or not this is my post I can say I have had the same experience with the airspeed readout in the GCS. I…"

"I feel compelled to ask the question in this forum I have asked in other threads. Has anyone hade trouble with the APv2 using the IMU falling out of range within 10 to 20 ft? I have previously detailed this question but not worked out the problem. I…"

I have been using a standard Ardupilot on my easystar with a HiTec receiver and Tx at 72Mhz. Not at first but lately the system is loosing range capability. With Ardupilot installed w/or w/o shield and imu installed the servos will get the jitters…

David Burke replied to Graham Dyer's discussion Code for changes wanted - APv2.7
" Jason I see this discussion is a little old but much the code rework much needed. I have experienced trouble with the failsafe in it not working at all. If I understand the code correctly, if the failsafe is not configured "#define…"

"Hey thanks a bunch for the links. I do not know why I missed the motor. Now if I can only get their website to deduct my credit I can pull the trigger on this order!"

"Thanks Stefan the setup looks great. I was not able to locate the 2835 on the hobbyking site maybe it is discontinued. The motor and prop combinations are difficult to understand and I haave not found a definitive site to help with selection. One…"

"Humm I suspected this might happen by way of crashing my stock one. They get to look like a jijsaw after awhile. Hey what motor and prop are you using? I like the look."

"I really like the mods however my plane has an afinity for the ground, so much so that my daughter said it now looks like a jijsaw puzzle. She dubbed it Saw I after the movie. Anyway if yours doesn't land more or less in a level latitude I will be…"

"Howdy Moses,
I like your spirit. Reminds me of my Vietnam soldiering days when I thought I might build a real plane out of bamboo, ponchos and a jeep engine and fly out of there! Perhaps a model is safer especially if you are not going to be shot at…"

David Burke replied to Nathaniel Caner's discussion Adrustation Button Explanation??
"Nathaniel,  I have the same trouble with ardustation. Since your posting is somewhat old you may have found an answer elsewhere. If so let me know. The extra buttons make a nice beep though. Also my Lat, Long figures are off and the airspeed which I…"

Hello all,I have had no luck whatever with getting throttle failsafe to work. I have set up the config file to: THROTTLE_FAILSAFE 1, THROTTLE_FS-VALUE 920 (my radio throttle drops out at around 935) and FAILSAFE_ACTION 1. It is difficult to ground…

David Burke replied to vios's discussion Satabilize Mode
"I have not tried this but by now you may knnow the answer. I Think you can use the IMU w/o the gps at least for testing. Logically it just stabilizes the plane and is not concerned with position on earth so unless the code hiccups on it you should…"
