About Me:

Im a mechanical engineer attending Brigham Young University - Idaho. I love anything with a micro controller. I also fly rc planes

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I'm interested in Autonomous navigation, I eventually want to build a quad copter to autonomously navigate an indoor obstacle course with pre programmed maneuvers, so it not only looks awesome, but is highly functional

Rhett Walker commented on Chris Anderson's blog post UAV-to-UAV midair refuelling simulation
"Wake turbulence is a big issue for planes. In a fluid dynamics class I took, we talked about a jet liner that flipped over while it was landing and was completely due to wake turbulence from another plane. I guess i never considered its effect while…"

Rhett Walker commented on Denny Rowland's blog post

Hi Guys I have for some time been developing this flying camera, I say camera as this is a departure from the norm. Whereas most people make a copter that just happens to have a camera mount this
"Interesting concept Denny. So when you say your flying the camera and the UAV follows, your camera angle stays constant while the UAV maintains some kind of balance? you should post a video I'd really like to see what you mean"

Rhett Walker commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Willow Garage announces ROS + MAVLink + ArduPilot Mega hookup
"that's cool they're already integrating this with ROS. I wonder why MAVLink is limited to 8 miles? I know theres an Xbee module with a 40 mile range, but maybe it has to do with something else, like time lag, or maybe the signal gets garbled from…"

Rhett Walker commented on AndrewF's blog post ROS and APM
"I wonder if you could implement full ROS via telemetry and some kind of fpv setup for computer vision. You could even use the MAVLink protocol for in flight two way communication. Having CV on a mobile platform like a UAV would make for an awesome…"
